If you are looking for a book on artificial intelligence and philosophy, I have an excellent one for you that will answer many questions. It is called "Let's Ask AI" by author Ingrid Seabra. This book features a series of questions that philosophers have been asking themselves for centuries, such as: "What is the purpose of existence?" or "Is there such a thing as free will?". In this book, you will explore these questions (among many) through a series of questions posed by the author to A.I. and its responses.
Please tell us about yourself.
I have a degree from Salamanca University in applied mathematics with a focus on applied statistics. I was a Credit Risk Analyst at Barclays Bank in London and then a Statistician at the European Central Bank (ECB) in Germany. I went on to become a senior biostatistician at BIAL Pharmaceutical in Portugal. I am currently an author, educator, and consultant.
What inspired you to write this book?
My experience inspired this book with Artificial Intelligence GPT-3. It covers a range of philosophical questions people have. Since my co-authors and I had the opportunity to interact with GPT-3 by asking it questions, we decided to share our experience and write a book about some of those questions and answers. This book is the first volume in our "Let's Ask AI" series.
How did you come up with the idea for the book?
Our A.I. experience is something we were excited to share with the world. We decided that a book would be most accessible for readers who might not otherwise have access to this technology. When I set up the project with my co-authors, it was important to have a team of authors because we each bring some level of expertise and insight that is different from one another. For example, I am a mathematician and researcher, Pedro Seabra has a background in law and operates in the international business arena, and Angela Chan has a background in biology and is a global arbitrageur. So, such diverse knowledge leads to different views and a larger pool of questions.
What is your favorite part of the book and why?
Some of the answers were funny, and some were very deep. One of my personal favorites was when A.I. answered the question about democratic and totalitarian regimes, which was better. I must admit that A.I.'s perspective was intriguing.
Who should read this book, and what do they stand to gain from it?
Everybody should read this book. "Let's Ask A.I." covers topics in both philosophy and artificial intelligence, making it perfect for those interested in understanding these two fields better. It is not a technical book for professionals in the A.I. sector. However, it is a book that should appeal to everybody, as it has questions that should interest most since it is in our nature to seek out answers constantly.
What are some of your future projects that we can look forward to reading or hearing about soon?
We are currently working on the second book in our "Let's Ask AI" series. And we are also working on another book set to be released at the end of 2021. This book explores how artificial intelligence could possibly disrupt our lives in the future. A.I. has become a part of everyday life, from optimizing the way you schedule your day at work by which apps send notifications during what time periods and how often they do so or having A.I. make fundamental decisions about things like when to turn on your air conditioner before it gets too hot outside. It will be interesting to examine whether people have given much thought as to where these trends might lead us ten years from now.
Do you have any motivational tips for aspiring writers who want to follow in your footsteps?
Write about what you love and know about and share it with those that might not have the same opportunities you do. Express your opinion. Do not be shy to share what you think. It could help someone else out. If you want people to read about a subject, they should know where you stand on the issue and what motivated you to write about it in the first place. It is okay if your voice is not always perfect or polished, as long as readers can clearly understand your thoughts.
Where can people buy your book?
Readers can purchase the paperback on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. For those who prefer eBooks, "Let's Ask AI" is available on Apple, Nook, Kobo, and several other eBook stores. Readers can get their eBook version here.
